Chimney Cleaning/Sweeping :

Pro Handy Solutions will come to your home and clean or sweep your chimney to get rid of any debris or blockages.

Regular cleaning of chimneys is crucial due to the accumulation of creosote, a highly flammable substance, over time in woodburning appliances. The rate of creosote buildup can vary based on factors such as wood quality, burning temperature, appliance type, and location. To ensure safety and optimal performance, it is recommended to clean chimneys every 40-60 uses, considering the aforementioned factors.

Our company provides two primary types of woodburning chimney cleaning services.
The basic cleaning entails meticulous detailing of the firebox and the face of the damper. During this process, we employ a metal brush and/or a spinning synthetic drilled brush to effectively remove a layer of residue from the firebox walls.

In addition to our standard chimney sweep service, we also offer a deep chimney sweep, which is recommended every 40-60 uses. This more comprehensive cleaning process involves the use of a high-tech extension brush system that allows us to reach from the bottom of the fireplace to the top of the chimney, ensuring a thorough cleaning from top to bottom. For wood-burning fireplaces with a damper, we also clean the smokeshelf by removing the damper and vacuuming the shelf to remove combustible creosote and potential dead animals.

The pricing for this service can be influenced by a number of variables:
1. The number of times the fireplace has been used since the last deep and thorough cleaning.
2. The type of wood that has been burned (ideally, only dry hardwood or paper-covered fire logs should be used).
3. The condition of the flue, including the presence of nests and the level and thickness of creosote buildup.
4. The height or length of the woodburning system.

The process of deep chimney cleaning, which takes about an hour or so, involves:
1. Set up of our special soot tent, cover the surrounding as needed using plastic sheets
2. set up the hepa filtered vacuum.

Once set-up is complete:
1. We feed our brushes from the bottom of the firebox to the top of the chimney, slowly drilling them down to release the creosote and possible debris. (For some woodstoves we may need to disassemble part of the flue pipe to access the flue)
3. For masonry Chimney cleaning: Once the flue and smoke chamber is clear, we clean the smoke shelf by either removing the damper or vacuuming
4. Brush the damper
5. Brush the firebox

Wood Stove Cleaning

Regular wood stove cleaning is essential to maintain efficiency and safety. Over time, creosote and ash buildup can restrict airflow and increase the risk of fire. Our service includes removing creosote, ash, and debris from the firebox and flue pipe. For stoves with removable components, we disassemble parts of the flue to ensure a deep clean. After cleaning, we reassemble the stove and conduct a final inspection to ensure proper functionality.

Boiler/ Furnace Flu Cleaning

Flue cleaning for boilers and furnaces prevents blockages and ensures efficient heating performance. Over time, soot and debris accumulate, potentially obstructing airflow and increasing energy costs. Our service involves using specialized brushes and vacuum systems to clear the flue pipe and remove obstructions. This thorough process improves system efficiency, reduces safety risks, and prolongs the life of your heating appliance.

Animal Removal

Animals like birds, raccoons, or squirrels often find their way into chimneys, causing blockages and potential damage. Our humane animal removal service safely relocates these creatures and clears nests or debris. We inspect the area for damage and install deterrents, such as chimney caps, to prevent future intrusions. Our priority is keeping your chimney clear and your home safe.

Chimneys should be cleaned every 40-60 uses, depending on how often you use your fireplace and the type of wood you burn. Regular cleaning ensures safety and efficiency.

Cleaning your wood stove removes built-up creosote and ash, preventing potential fire hazards and improving heating efficiency. It also extends the life of your stove.

A dirty flue can reduce heating efficiency, cause blockages, and increase the risk of carbon monoxide buildup. Regular cleaning keeps your system working safely and efficiently.

If you hear scratching or chirping sounds from your chimney or notice debris like twigs or leaves inside, it’s likely that animals have entered. Professional removal is necessary to avoid damage or hazards.

While some basic maintenance can be done, professional cleaning ensures all areas, including hard-to-reach spots, are thoroughly cleaned, reducing fire risks and improving system performance.

We install chimney caps and screens to block entry points, preventing animals from nesting and ensuring your chimney stays clean and functional.
